Blended from select, premium vineyard sites spread across the sunniest of New Zealand’s viticultural regions, Gisborne.
Vintage 2017 delivered a smaller than predicted crop for Marlborough’s wine industry, ensuring the vibrant, fruit-driven wines the region is so well known for, were achieved. Summer started early with warm weather leading to good flavour development, indicating the potential for great wine. Our vineyard staff and winemakers spent plenty of time in those early days of the season, working out how to get the best balance from our vines – and ultimately into our wines. Nature threw in some challenges along the way, with a major November earthquake, a cool and windy summer and stints of rain in Autumn. Rigorous vineyard management and careful harvest decisions have ensured our Marisco wines have an exciting spectrum of flavours from our harvested grapes. A growing year of challenges – resulting in wines to remember!
Fermentation in both French oak barrels and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks has provided this Chardonnay with a balanced expression of vibrant, fresh fruit with complex, savoury flavours and a positive palate texture.
Titratable Acidity 7.2g/L
Residual Sugar 5.3g/L
A delicious amalgam of citrus freshness with the rich, white-fleshed stone fruits and the savoury undertone of roasted almonds and toasted oak. Juicy stone fruit flavours comingle with mealy complexities and a fine, tight lemon-citrus element, neatly supported by well-integrated, lightly toasted oak with a touch of vanilla creaminess.
Curious Kiwi Chardonnay is a great match with robust white meats; chicken, pork or veal, plus lighter red meats such as early season lamb.
Crafted to enjoy whilst its flavours and vibrancy are at their peak; we recommend drinking this wine within 3 years of the vintage date.
