The ‘Expressions of Leefield’ range captures small parcels of fruit grown on these special sites showcasing the unique terroir of the Waihopai Valley - Leefield Station, the Best of Marlborough.
The Expressions of Leefield Station is a range of limited release wines, including Stockman Syrah 2021, The Gatherer Gewurztraminer 2022, and the Ridgeline Riesling 2023.
The Ridgeline Riesling 2023 is the latest in the Expressions of Leefield Station collection. With delicate notes of lemon, stone fruits and subtle honey hints define aromas of this vibrant, youthful wine. “A statement of expressive fruit purity and dry, crunchy textures the Ridgeline Riesling comes from a high, rolling terrace that stands above the northern tip of Leefield Station. A genuine dry style of Marlborough Riesling that delivers lemon – lime citrus and subtle floral honey characters with a saline, mineral twist.” Matt Mitchell - Winemaker.
The Gatherer Gewurztraminer 2022 is sourced from a warm river terrace at Leefield Station, it boasts a bouquet of fresh lychee, white peach, and apricot, with delicate nuances of orange peel and ginger. “The Leefield Station Gatherer Gewurztraminer is the quintessential cool climate Traminer, where the ethereal floral notes of jasmine and old fashioned roses skip and glide across a fruit base reminiscent of white fleshed stone fruits - there is a twist of ginger spice but it is delicate and less pronounced than one would see in styles from warmer climes.” Matt Mitchell - Winemaker
Stockman Syrah 2021 is a true testament to the passion and dedication that goes into every bottle. Each grape is hand picked and then hand plunged three to four times a day, ensuring that every drop is bursting with flavour. “The Leefield Station Stockman Syrah where the sheltered pockets of bony terraces that overlook the Waihopai River have given us a medium bodied expression of Syrah with tightly wound, fine grained tannin and the rich, brooding flavours of dark berry fruits, black olive and dried Provencal herbs.” Matt Mitchell - Winemaker
